Students Dawn Nguyen, Khaled Alabdulghafour, and Adam Pallas gave great talks about their experiences here in CLA; there was excellent music, both a jazz trio and an a capella group, at each of the three events; and Dean John Coleman tied it all together with some meditations on the role of liberal arts in helping us recover community through empathy. Students and parents truly enjoy this event.

It’s easy for me to enjoy events like this; I just show up. But these events don’t just happen. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the people who helped make Senior Celebration possible. Lead organizers included Lisa Filhart, Jessica Medearis, and Megan Mehl, but the organizing team was much bigger, and dozens of people volunteered many hours, including one of their Sundays, to create the success that we had.
P.S. One other good thing coming out of Senior Celebration this year is that I can finally refute my wife’s complaint that I occasionally suffer from a swollen head.
